IT'S RALLY TIME!
April 14th, Lansing Michigan,  the Michigan FairTax Association in conjunction with Americans for Prosperity Michigan and other supporting organizations will hold a Taxpayer Rally and legislative day 2011 at the State Capitol.  Put April 14th on your calendar, bring your friends, and join us as nationally recognized FairTax advocate Herman Cain leads the rally to demonstrate the Michigan FairTax is alive and well. This can be huge! The media will be there, and our representatives will be in session that day. You could make your trip productive by visiting your representative on that day to share about the Michigan FairTax. Let's make Michigan the LEADER AND BEST!
Wisconsin was treated to the call of vocal citizens participating in a sit down protest as seventy thousand invaded the halls of the Wisconsin Capitol in Madison with a need to express their views. Governor Walker and the politicians in Madison where deluged with emails estimated at 24 thousand a day. This is exactly the power the MI FairTax needs to muster in Michigan to tell the politicians there is a majority that expects cooperation on giving the voters a say on the MI FairTax, and they demand it get done. In this era of instant communication we can flood the halls of power with email, we can rally at the capitol, we can have a new voice.
Gov. Snyder, our Senators and Representatives, are in need of a wake up call. A reminder that those who voted last Fall expect the MI FairTax to be on the table and part of the discussion, just as then candidate Snyder stated in his campaign. It is not good enough to give lip service to an issue any longer, as American's we have had enough of politicians who do not listen. Power revisited! The power is in our hands.
WHAT'S HAPPENING

GREAT IDEAS JUST WON'T GO AWAY

Ever notice that great ideas just don't go away?  We have so many wonderful examples, ideas that started small and would not go away because the public DEMANDED them. Let's see, turn signals, radios, automatic transmissions, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and cup holders. Each one started small, an extra cost option, and became standard equipment on vehicles today. The same might be said politically about a women's right to vote, the civil rights movement from the past, and the MI FairTax today.
Great ideas just will not go away! These ideas have staying power because they are surrounded by basic truth and value, and those that argue against such issues in the long run fail to make their case. Yes, the MI FairTax is five years old this year, but the support and clamor for its passage grows now by leaps and bounds. Michigan can not survive without JOBS AND PROSPERITY. Michigan needs a FairTax! This will happen when, by using the lessons of the past, we demand the benefits of the MI FairTax Proposal. A MI FairTax voted in by the people, proclaiming Michigan the most productive state in the union to do business. Making Michigan the home of JOBS AND PROSPERITY in the 21st Centu
ry.

SENTINEL FAIRTAX FACTS
The Michigan FairTax can truly be a bipartisan issue, in the sense that the MI FairTax is not really about how the government is spending its money. There can be an ongoing conversation about the size of government. But the MI FairTax proposal has nothing to do with that, per se. In fact, the MI FairTax is "revenue neutral" with the present income, business and payroll tax system, meaning it would fund our state budget at the same levels.
So what is IT about? The MI FairTax is about how our state collects the money the government needs in a fairer, less intrusive way: A carefully crafted plan that shifts the tax burden from what is earned to what is consumed. In a nutshell: The MI FairTax people figure a 9.75% sales tax, with the permanent elimination of income and business taxes would do the trick (see our website for detailed explanations). Certainly, a 4.35% raise in everyone's paycheck, a Prebate to cover all tax on the necessities of life, and the economist's projection for Michigan of JOBS and PROSPERITY make the Michigan FairTax trump any other proposal on the table.

OUT AND ABOUT

As April 18th, Michigan Income Tax Day gets closer (April 15th is a Federal Holiday called Emancipation Day), ask yourself, "Why do we have an income tax?" And then ask yourself, "How do we change the system?"
In our system of self-governance, ideas become laws only when the advocates are organized - not just when an idea has merit. You see, when people with a good idea get highly organized, they have a power that makes elected lawmakers pay attention. Those officials can then vote to place the Michigan FairTax before the people and the idea has a chance to be voted into law.
Regardless of its negative impact on the economy, the Michigan Income Tax remains intact and expands. It's a bad idea, but its protectors flank Lansing. Special interest lobbyists and campaign donors aim to keep it in place.
But we know we can do better. We are organizing the voters challenge to repeal the Michigan Income Tax and abolish it forever.
The Michigan FairTax Association already has many strong advocates across our state. Many in Lansing heard us loud and clear. Now, "tax reform" and "tax replacement" are buzz words in Michigan's legislature.
It's not enough to want and to wait for tax reform. We need to make it happen. We need to get organized. You and I know what happens when we don't organize and mobilize. We get the status quo or worse. Without you, the Michigan income tax is here to stay. All we need  is one change - eliminate it!
This year, we need you to fully join us to get the Michigan FairTax Proposal on the ballot.
Become a patriot!  Tell Lansing that the Michigan FairTax replacement plan is the only plan to get Michigan back on the right track.
Your support is free. All we ask is that you tell your representative to place the Michigan FairTax Proposal on the ballot so we have a choice.  We need your passion and your voice.
